China-Brazil Online Conference on Sustainable Agriculture Investment and Financing

Co-organised by the Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS) and the Brazil-China Business Council (CEBC), the Second Annual Dialogue on China-Brazil Sustainable Agriculture – “China-Brazil Online Conference on Sustainable Agriculture Investment and Financing” will take place on August 3rd and August 4th. On behalf of the co-organisers, we cordially invite you to attend the two events.

Faced with multiple challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and the global food security crisis amid the COVID-19 pandemic, countries are taking action in international mechanisms, national policies as well as international investment, financing and trade to promote nature-positive financing, especially in sustainable agricultural financing. China and Brazil are important agricultural trade and investment partners. In the upcoming decade, the bilateral international agricultural cooperation will continue to increase. Our cooperation on sustainable agriculture is crucial to tackling climate change, protecting biodiversity and ensuring food security. Through knowledge sharing, policies exchanges and learning from each other in innovative financing practices, China and Brazil will be able to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation on sustainable international agricultural investment and trade, and contribute to the world’s shift towards a nature-positive and zero-carbon future.

To promote the advancement of sustainable agricultural investment and financing cooperation between China and Brazil, the 2nd China-Brazil Sustainable Agriculture Dialogue will focus on new tools for green finance, challenges and opportunities for financing low-carbon agriculture and livestock in Brazil, etc. The dialogue is to identify ways of cooperation in relevant areas and to facilitate the connection between Chinese investors and Brazilian low-carbon agricultural projects.

The dialogue will be divided into two parts: an open dialogue on August 3rd and a closed-door roundtable on August 4th. On August 3rd, high-level representatives from financial institutions, governments and businesses from both countries, as well as multilateral institutions and international environmental organizations, will participate in the dialogue. The dialogue will continue on August 4th with an exchange between companies, financial institutions and investment funds from both countries, open to invited participants only.
