Ma Jun, President of the Beijing-based Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS) and former Co-Chair of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG), together with representatives from six other founding members, launched the Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI) today at COP28.

This accolade was presented to him at the Budapest Eurasia Forum 2023 held on November 24, in recognition of his extensive contributions to the field of green finance.

BEIJING, Oct. 17, 2023-- Dr. Ma Jun, President of China's leading green finance think tank, the Beijing-based Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS), unveiled a global initiative on sustainable finance capacity building for emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs), at “Seminar on Building New vision for the Green Silk Road” of Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing this week.

China’s leading green finance think tank, the Beijing-based Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS), unveiled a global initiative on sustainable finance capacity building for emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs), at a conference during the Belt & Road Forum held in Beijing.

On February 17-18, 2022, Indonesia, as the chair of the Group of Twenty (G20), hosted the first G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting of the year in Jakarta, combining both online and offline formats.

As one of the first green finance reform and innovation pilot zones, Huzhou took the lead in issuing the Implementation Opinions on Facilitating the Construction of a Pilot Zone for Green Finance Reform and Innovation and Exploring the Construction of a Low-Carbon Transition Financial System under the guidance of the Green Finance Committee (GFC), China Society for Finance and Banking.

On December 13 2021, China Construction Bank (CCB) issued its second overseas Green Bond of the year, raising $500 million for a three-year term. It is the bank’s first US dollar floating-rate bond priced at the new benchmark interest rate, and the world’s first Green Bond based on the China-EU Common Ground Taxonomy: Climate Change Mitigation (hereinafter referred to as the CGT). Funds raised will be channeled to quality projects of clean transportation and clean energy in the Greater Bay Area for green development.

On March 10, 2021, European Parliament adopted a resolution on Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), bringing the European Union (EU) one step closer to implementing carbon border taxes by 2023. The resolution therefore supports to put a carbon price on certain goods imported from outside the EU, if these countries fail to comply with EU-approved carbon emission regulations.

Chinese government has long been committed to ending poverty in an effective and sustainable way. Authorities have achieved desired results in poverty-stricken areas by replacing subsidies with investments, and SDIC Fund Management is a pioneer in this way.
