In order to more extensively integrate the professional experience and technical resources of responsible management in China's capital market, and thus more efficiently enhance Chinese enterprises' willingness, ability, and effectiveness in transforming towards green, low-carbon, and high-quality development, in July 2023, the IFS, together with the China Sustainable Investment Forum (China SIF), jointly launched the "China Climate Engagement Initiative (CCEI)" with relevant institutions. This platform is the first investor cooperation mechanism in China initiated by institutional investors. By promoting institutional investors to exert the influence of capital and shareholders and actively practicing responsible management, it aims to drive the green, low-carbon, and high-quality transformation of Chinese enterprises.
Currently, 31 large institutional investors have joined the CCEI platform as member units, covering local public funds, insurance asset management companies, bank wealth management products, private equity funds, as well as some international asset management institutions. The asset scale represented by these institutions has exceeded 70 trillion yuan.
In addition, the CCEI platform has also received official support from institutions such as the Green Finance Committee of the China Society for Finance and Banking, the Insurance Asset Management Association of China, the Energy Foundation, the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC), the Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA), the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Global Environment Information Research Center, the Climate Bonds Initiative, and the Farm Animal Investment Risk and Return Initiative (FAIRR Initiative).
