2026.10.28

On 22 October, Bai Yunwen, Vice President of the Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS), introduced the Ya’an biodiversity credit pilot at Biodiversity Finance Day in the China Pavilion at the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17).

On 8 October, seven local departments jointly issued the Implementation Plan for the Ya’an Biodiversity Credit Pilot (Trial), establishing a municipal-level framework linking biodiversity outcome verification, credit registration and trading, and financial support. The first demonstration projects in the Giant Panda National Park have completed preliminary credit accounting, with technical support from Shan Shui Conservation Center.

On 25 October, IFS further presented China’s nature market research at the International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits (IAPB), sharing Ya’an’s experience in developing local mechanisms to mobilize finance for biodiversity conservation.
